About Diggin' Friends aboutim

Diggin' Friends was started as a class project for Information Design to demonstrate how public data can be viewed in a different light. My main demonstration and inspiration came from the very popular site, Digg.com.

So what is the exact purpose behind Diggin' Friends?
I wanted to create a site where you can easily and quickly view your Digg Profile information ranging from what your friends have Dugg to your own personal Digg Signature (provided by Diggsig.com).

What is Digg?
Digg is a user driven social content website. Ok, so what the heck does that mean? Well, everything on digg is submitted by the digg user community (that would be you). After you submit content, other digg users read your submission and digg what they like best. If your story rocks and receives enough diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of digg visitors to see.

Who worked on Diggin' Friends?
I was the writer behind most of what you see, from the PHP code crunching away data to the CSS style sheets that drive the layouts. Even though I worked long and hard on this site, it wouldn't be 100% working without the help of Sean "Headzoo" Hickey, thank you Sean.

Future plans?
Diggin' Friends will forever be in development as new ideas and information becomes available, both from Digg.com's side and my side. I will always try and improve the site from performance to features! Each new "version" of Diggin' Friends will be displayed in a little 'bubble' top right in the banner, each version will mark a significant update to the site.

So, how does Diggin’ Friends work?

Below you’ll see a chart showing what this site does. It’s pretty easy to understand, but if you have any futher questions don’t hesitate to contact us.
